12.11.2008 - EUROPEAN RECORD in 100m individual medley

Hanna-Maria swam new European record in 100m individual medley (59,07) today. This is also new Nordic Country record as well as Finnish National record. She also made new national record in 100m freestyle 52,44.

15.08.2008 - HANNA-MARIA FOURTH IN OLYMPICS!

Hanna-Maria swam great today and was finally fourth in 100m freestyle in Olympics Beijing, China. Her time was good 53,97. Gold was taken by STEFFEN Britta (GER) 53,12, silver TRICKETT Lisbeth (AUS) 53,16 and bronze COUGHLIN Natalie (USA) 53,39.

14.08.2008 - Hanna-Maria to finals in Olympics tomorrow!

Hanna-Maria was qualified to the finals in 100m freestyle today. She swam a good time (53,84) and she was third. Best time was represented by Natalie Coughlin 53,70 today. Yesterday Hanna-Maria swam 53,60. She swims finals tomorrow at 10am local Beijing time.

13.08.2008 - Hanna-Maria to semifinals as number one!

Hanna-Maria was qualified to the semifinals today. She swam the best time (53,60) in 100m freestyle heats today. Hanna-Maria improved her own personal best with 0,4 seconds and the time is also new National Record as well. She swims semi-finals tomorrow at 10am local Beijing time.

Earlier this week she swm 100m backstroke as a "warm up" event for 100m freestyle. Her time was 1.02,39 and position 30.

28.07.2008 - Hanna-Maria in Olympic Games during August

Hanna-Maria participates Olympic Games in Beijing, China. She is currently in Singapore training for the Olympics and will move to Beijing in the begining of August. Olympics starts officially 8th of Aug and ends 24th of Aug. The swimming event will be held at the National Aquatics Center in the Olympic Green from August 9-24, 2008. She participates in three events: 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Hanna-Maria is experienced Olympic swimmer since Olympic Games is Hanna-Marias thrid already. Her goal is to get Olympic medal in 100m freestyle and improve significantly in other evens she takes part in. She competes followingly in Beijing (local time):

06.07.2008 - European record and 7 gold medals in Nationals

Hanna-Maria swam new European record in 100m individual medley yesterday. She also made 4 new national records and one Nordic Country Record in Finnish Champs held in Seinäjoella Jul 3rd-6th 2008. She participated in seven different events and won them all.

After the Nationals she has 99 Finnish Championships alltogether. National records she has achieved 84 so far.

04.07.2008 - New records in Nationals, Finland

Hanna-Maria swam today two new national records in Finnish National Championships (3.7 - 7.7.2008). The race took place in Seinäjoki, Finland. She swam record times in 100m freestyle 52,44 and in 50m butterfly 26,68. Hanna-Maria has now alltogether 82 National records.

07.06.2008 - Good results in Monaco

Hanna-Maria swam new national records in 100m butterfly (1.00,32) for the very first time in her career. Previous national record (1.00,72) was made by Marja Pärssinen more than 10 years ago in Sevilla (year 1997). New record time also exceedes the Olympic B-level qualification for 100m butterfly.

After Saturday Hanna-Maria has swam now altogether 80 individual national records in her career. Check also Hanna-Marias all other records in the Record Table.

Mare Nostrum-race continues still 10th - 11th of June in Barcelona and 14th - 15th of June in Canet.

11.04.2008 - SILVER AND BRONZE WITH EUROPEAN RECORD IN UK

Hanna-Maria got silver today in 100m individual medley and bronze in 100m freestyle in World Champs held in Manchester, UK. She swam medley 59,62 which is a new European Record. It is also a new Nordic Country and National record. Freestyle she performed also excellently and swam it under 53 seconds for the first time in her career. 100m freestyle 52,94 is a new National record as well.

Hanna-Maria has now 11 medals altogether from European Champs and World Champs. Check all her achievements in the Medal Table. Hanna-Maria will swim 50m freestyle tomorrow and her goal is to get into the Finals.

10.04.2008 - National record in the World Championship!

Hanna-Maria swam new national record in 100m individual medley today. The new record now is 59,73. This is the first time she swam individual medley under 1 minute! Hanna-Maria won the semi-finals and the goal is to get medal tomorrow.

Hanna-Maria also swam 100m freestyle with a good time 53,50 in semi-finals today. Her ranking was fifth.

07.04.2008 - Hanna-Maria participates World Championships in UK

Hanna-Maria participates in the World Championships in Manchester, United Kingdom (April 9 - 13). Hanna-Maria's goal is to improve in every event she swims.

She will swim following events in the competition:

• 100m individual medley

Widely requested new service, a Blog, has been opened in Hanna-Maria's web site today. She will write among others about training camps, travelling, and journey plans few times in a month.

24.03.2008 - National record again in the European Champs!

Hanna-Maria swam new national record in 100m backstroke today. She swam backstroke in women 4*100m medley relay and the new record now is 1.01,94. She improved time nearly by 1 second. The previous record (1.02,93) was swam 10 years ago by Anu Koivisto in Monaco.

Hanna-Maria also swam 50m freestyle with a good time 25,44 in finals today. Her ranking was eight. Today was the last day of European Championships - next competition will be World Championships in UK Manchester next month.

This record was Hanna-Maria's seventh in The Netherland's European Chapionships. If you count records made in relays the total amount of recors rises up to nine. She has swam now altogether 75 individual national records in her career.

23.03.2008 - Hanna-Maria in Finals and got national record again!

Hanna-Maria swam 50m freestyle with a good time 25,46 in semi-finals of European Champs today. Her ranking was sixth and thus she is entitled to swim in the finals tomorrow. Additionally she swam 50m backstroke finals today and her rank was seven. Her time 28,98 in 50m backstroke is new national record, which is 3rd in a row within 24 hours!

This record is Hanna-Maria's sixth in The Netherland's European Chapionships so far. She has swam now 74 national records altogether.

23.03.2008 - Olympic A-level qualification achieved in 50m freestyle

Hanna-Maria has achieved A-level qualification to the Olympics in Beijing after she swam 50m freestyle 25,27 in European Champs today. She has swam now five national records so far in the competition!

A-level qualification for 50m freestyle in Beijing Olympics is 25,43. Hanna-Maria has also A-level qualification for 100m freestyle. She is also qualified with B-level in 200m freestyle. Two A-level and one B-level swimmers will be qualified to the Olympics in each event from Finland.

22.03.2008 - 50m backstroke records in European Champs!

Hanna-Maria swam new national records in 50m backstroke for the very first time in her career. She swam new record in the heats (29,14) and improved it in the semi-finals by 0,13 seconds (29,01). Previous national record (29,38) was made by Anu Koivisto 7 years ago in Japan Fukuoka (year 2001).

Hanna-Maria will swim 50m backstroke in the finals tomorrow afternoon. She will also swim 50m freestyle tomorrow. Be tuned!

20.03.2008 - EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP SILVER IN 100m FREESTYLE

Hanna-Maria got silver today in 100m freestyle in European Champs held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. She swam freestyle with a good time 54,04 and it was as close as 0,04 seconds to the National Record.

15.03.2008 - The Netherland's European Championships

Hanna-Maria participates in the European Championships in Eindhoven, The Netherland (March 17 - 24). Hanna-Maria's goal is to improve in every event she swims.

10.02.2008 - New record and 6 Gold in Nationals, Finland

Hanna-Maria swam today a new national record in 200m freestyle with time 2.01,01 in Finnish National Championships (7.2 - 10.2.2008). The race took place in Espoolahti, Finland. The previous record was also made by Hanna-Maria and she improved it by 0,53 seconds.

Hanna-Maria has now alltogether 92 National Championships and 68 National records. Additionally, she swam personal bests in 50m butterfly (27,61) and 100m backstroke (1.02,98).

06.02.2008 - Hanna-Maria participates Finnish Nationals Champs

Hanna-Maria takes part in long course 50m Finnish National Championships this weekend (Feb 7.- 10.). Race is arranged in city of Espoo, Finland. Hanna-Maria's goal is to get as many Finnish Championships as possible and also improve her own records.

Hanna-Maria will swim following seven events according to the plans:
