Hanna-Maria won gold in 100m individual medley in European Champs held in Trieste, Italy. It was also a new national record as well as nordic record. Totally Hanna-Maria has now 58 national records under her name. Additionally she got silver in 100m freestyle yesterday.
Hanna-Maria's winning time was 1.00,71 in 100m individual medley. Silver she got with a time 52,36 in 100m freestyle. Everything went as planned. She says: "I believe that balance in all area of life is the key to success - this applies also in swimming. I have been able to improve in all areas this autumn, even though my studies have taken some time from the training. I also found a good balance between swim and school. This produced good results and hopefully also in the future".

Hanna-Maria made new national record in 100m freestyle in European Championships held in Trieste, Italy. Hanna-Maria swam the second with time 53,29 in the semi-finals and improved the old record by 0,17 seconds. Women's freestyle 100m finals will be held on Friday 9th of December and competition can be seen on Eurosport TV channel. Hanna-Maria will also swim other events in the race. See information below.

Hanna-Maria race calendar has now been drafted for the next year. You can find information about competitions, venue and dates of the races in which Hanna-Maria is going to participates during the year 2006.
Next year main competition is goin to be World Championships in China, Sanghai. In addition, she is going to take part in European Championships in short course (25m) Helsinki, Finland and in long course (50m) Budapest, Hungary.

Hanna-Maria swam today a new national record in 100m medley with time 1.01,16 in Finnish Open Grand Prix. The race took place in Espoolahti, Finland. The previous record was also made by Hanna-Maria last year and she improved it by 0,07 seconds. Additionally, Hanna-Maria made her personal best in 50m butterfly. She was also close to break her personal best in the main event of 100m freestyle.

Hanna-Maria swam several personal bests during October. She achieved new records in short course as listed below. Additionally she improved her time in 100m butterfly twice within a month.

Training is getting better all the time and preparations towards European Championship (short course) has proceeded well. "I have found a good balance between swimming and college that I started this Autumn. My personal coach made a few important adjustments to my training program - thus I am now feeling much better and the results are improving as well", says Hanna-Maria.

World Champion Hanna-Maria Seppala has arrived in Victoria for a 6 week training and competition period. Hanna-Maria has just completed a training camp in Florida with the Finnish National Team followed by World Cup #7 in New York.
During her time in Victoria she will train alongside double Olympians Rick Say and Morgan Knabe. Seppala, a two time Olympian herself, topped the world in Barcelona in 2003, when she outswam Jodi Henry (AUS) and Jenny Thompson (USA) to take gold in the 100 freestyle.

Speedo and Hanna-Maria Seppälä signed a cooperation contract for three years. Speedo provides race and training apparel for Hanna-Maria during the whole cooperation period. Additionally Speedo provides other leisure apparel for Hanna-Maria.
The importer, Ulf Forsström, from Oy Sultrade Ltd, is very happy to be able to cooperate with Hanna-Maria. According to him, Hanna-Maria is a charismatic and successful athlete who brings a lot of positive and energetic visibility. The goal of the cooperation is to get visibility especially for the Speedo Fastskin FSII, which is the fastest swimsuit in the world. Hanna-Maria is happy to wear Speedo's technical swimsuits. "Speedo is a pioneer in swimsuit research and development. Many top swimmers have made records wearing Speedo's Fastskin FSII swimsuit. I also want to try the swimsuit to see if I would be able to improve my own records," says Hanna-Maria smiling. "Speedo's scientific research and development brings continuously new products for competing swimmers. We are proud to provide these products for Hanna-Maria," continues Ulf Forsström.

Urheiluhallit Oy and Hanna-Maria agreed to continue the cooperation with a long term contract. Veikko Vermilä, Chief Executive Officer of Urheiluhallit Oy, is very happy about the past years and enthusiastic about the coming long term cooperation. "Hanna-Maria brings a lot of energy to our swimming pools. She is great postive impact on our company's public image. She is a genuine person and she always smiles. I believe, that this will also have positive impact on our financial figures in the future", says Veikko, with smile on his face.
Hanna-Maria is also satisfied with the cooperation. She agrees with Veikko and adds, "I have always been able to train in the pools of Urheiluhallit Oy, whenever suitable for me. I am very happy about the facilities and services of Urheiluhallit Oy. I am excited that the European Championships will be held in the Mäkelänrinne swimming complex of Helsinki in the year 2006. I look forward to competing in the event".
Urheiluhallit Oy is a company located in Helsinki. It provides various excercise services in seven different sports and swimming complex in Helsinki area. The number of visits is about 1,5 million annually.
